• Nadine Lustre is now part of the Your Moment panel of judges
• Nadine apparently refused to ask James Reid about judging tips
• James was criticized online after becoming part of the Idol Philippines panel
Nadine Lustre was introduced as one of the judges of ABS-CBN’s 2-in-1 reality talent competition Your Moment along with Asia’s King of Talk Boy Abunda and performer-host Billy Crawford. The show is set to debut later this year.
Taking on her first time judging a talent competition, Nadine considered the opportunity as life changing and inspiring.
“Yung nangyayayari kasi s’akin sa Your Moment, para s’akin life changing siya. Kasi ang dami kong natutunan po talaga sa show na ito. Sa mga taping po namin ang dami kong bagong taong nakilala na-inspire ako,” Nadine shared during the mediacon of Your Moment last October 21, Monday.
“Dito natuto po talaga akong maging honest. Tsaka since first time ko din po kasing mag-judge, hindi pa ako sanay yung direkta kaagad, yung straight to the point kaagad. So minsan iniisip ko pa po kung papaano po ako buuin ang gusto kong sabihin.”
The actress said that it was the inspiring stories of the contestants which ignited her passion as a judge in the reality competition.
“Sobrang nag-eenjoy po ako honestly po kasi para sa akin yung nakita ko yung ibang mga talent na nagpe-perform sa harap namin. Ako po very emotional po ako lalo na sa mga performances kasi nalalaman din namin po yung mga kuwento nila. Talaga namang alam mo ‘yung struggle nila yet ganyan sila kagaling mag-perform. It’s really very inspiring.”
Her real-life and onscreen partner James Reid was part of the Idol Philippines panel. When asked if she was able to solicit advice and tips about judging from the young actor, Nadine then answered and burst into laughter, “Actually sa akin po siya humihingi, hahaha!”
“Kasi nag-judge din po ako sa Miss Q and A sa Showtime so tinatanong po niya ako ‘paano mo nasasabi, paano mo napapansin yung performance, paano mo naiisip kung ano yung gusto mong sabihin and kung ano yung gusto mong i-comment.This was before pa po nag-start yung Idol Philippines,” Nadine further explained.
“Sa akin po siya humihingi ng tips.”
When asked again about the matter, Nadine laughingly replied,” Kay Tito Boy and kay Billy po talaga ako (hihingi).”
James and his fellow Idol Philippine judges Vice Ganda and Moira dela Torre became targets of criticisms online for their “questionable” credibility as judges. James’ style of judging and his usual commentaries even spawned memes online.
Th actor will soon star in the upcoming Dreamscape teleserye Soulmate, where he will be paired with K-pop performer Nancy McDonie of the girl group Momoland.
During the same interview, Nadine was asked for her thoughts on her and her love team partner having a succession of separate projects.
“Like I’ve said naman po before, di naman pwedeng palagi kaming magkadikit. Kailangan meron din kaming time mag-grow separately kasi healthy naman po yun eh. Para at least nagkaroon kami ng projects in rhe future, lahat ng mga tao ma-excite naman,” she explained.
Nadine and James’s last acting project together was Never Not Love You in 2018. However, they have regular music collaborations under the latter’s music label Careless Music Manila.
