Leaving as early as 5:15 AM, Panelo experienced a bit of the hardship everyday commuters face as it took him more than 4 hours to arrive at Malacanang. Incidentally, he was almost an hour late as Malacanang usually starts its work day at 8 AM.

From several minutes of waiting just to get a ride (thanks to policemen who helped him get a ride), to squeezing into packed public vehicles, to getting offloaded from a broken tricycle, to finally hitching a ride on a motorcycle to Malacanang, the palace spokesman  got a small taste of Filipino’s everyday commuting woes.

Celebrities and netizens reminded Panelo how he belittled commuters’ plight though laughable memes and funny tweets.

Staunch admin critic Agot Isidro tweeted Panelo of his infamous line that there is no transport crisis yet in the metro.

Actress Ria Atayde meanwhile sarcastically tweeted about Panelo’s “creativity in commuting.”

Another known government critic, Ethel Booba, also chided Panelo for being late to work.

She also joked about a round two of the challenge since Panelo already finished the first one.

Spoken word artist Juan Miguel Severo tweeted about Panelo’s “creativity.”

ABS-CBN reporter Jeff Canoy managed to cleverly use his name to tease about Panelo’s experience.

Music artist Bullet Dumas on the other hand, tweeted a parody song.

Aside from celebrities, here are what other netizens have to say about Sec. Panelo’s failed commute challenge.
