Kapamilya actress Maja Salvador still holds actor John Lloyd Cruz in high regard.
During her launch as the new endorser of Jollibee Super Meals, Maja once again talked about how John Lloyd as her “tatay-tatayan” has influenced her career.
She said the award-winning actor was one of the reasons she has embraced and loved acting.
“Same handler (kasi) kami… Parang naging tatay-tatayan ko siya sa industriya. Actually, ‘tatay’ ang tawag ko sa kanya. Marami siyang binibigay sa akin na mga advice,” Maja narrated.
“Dati gusto ko lang mag-work para makabili ng bahay, ganyan. But habang kinakausap ko itong mga tao na ito na importante sa akin, nagigising ako sa katotohanan na hindi lang puro pera. Kailangan mahalin mo talaga trabaho mo para mahalin ka rin nito,” she added.
When asked what is the best advice that she had ever received from John Lloyd, the 31-year-old actress shared, “Si Lloydie lagi niya sinasabi na huwag mo papakinggan iyong iba dahil kung kilala mo iyong sarili mo, kilala mo iyong sarili mo.
“Dahil sila nakikita lang nila kung ano iyong gusto nila makita. Pero ikaw, ikaw mismo… Kilala mo kung sino ka,” she added.
The 36-year-old actor has taken a stand to live a life unfettered by public opinion.
He also opted to keep his life behind the camera private.
In October 2017, John Lloyd announced an “indefinite leave of absence” from the industry.
He was previously linked to fellow Kapamilya star Ellen Adarna and the two reportedly welcomed a child in 2018.
The seasoned actor has remained mum on these issues until now, leading many to criticize him for keeping fans in the dark.
Despite the negativity, Maja remained in awe of the actor.
“John Lloyd is John Lloyd. Si John Lloyd is napaka-galing na artista,” Maja stressed.
John Lloyd last appeared in the 2017 romantic-comedy film Finally Found Someone with Sarah Geronimo.
He is expected to appear in the historical drama film Culion in a cameo role.
The movie is one of this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entries to be shown in December.
