Miracle in Cell No. 7 topped the Metro Manila Film Festival 2019 box office race despite being snubbed at the awards night.
The PH adaptation of the Korean hit surpassed the P300-million mark, making Aga Muhlach the new box office king.
Despite being snubbed by the MMFF committee during the awards night, Aga has no hurt feelings for winning as the Best Actor.
“Masayang masaya po ako talaga, sobra. Wala pong best actor, all of us we try out best. Allen [Dizon], mga kasama ko. Coco [Martin], Vice [Ganda], these are great actors… Kahit sinong kasama ko sa industriya na nabigyang pansin, [okay sa akin],” he said.
However, the film’s director and writer are wondering about the snub.
“Di ako makapaniwala na in-ignore, na-snub kami sa awards especially sa actors,” said Nuel Naval, director.
“It’s a decent adaptation, legally-adapted, but it’s better than ripping off something and passing it off as an original,” added screenwriter Mel del Rosario.
For netizens, the adaptation movie was done well.

@iamrenzieivan, I think they have a point. Although it is an adaptation, the performance of the actors, the team and the quality of the movie itself should have been considered. I haven’t watched the movie yet but the trailer left me in tears. So it seems the movie is very promising.
