During the press conference of Viva Films held at Novotel last Monday, Yam Concepcion confessed that she does not have the guts to breach her contract with the production firm.
If ever she’d like to venture to another production company, she will choose to push through the projects and agreements she had with the former.
“Parang hindi ko ata kayang gawin ‘yun, walang lakas ng loob gawin ‘yon. Kasi institusyon na ang Viva, ‘yun ang kinakalaban mo, ako I’ll just stick kung ano ‘yung napag-usapan, gawin natin ‘yung napag-usapan. Siyempre, ayoko naman ng ganun, hindi ako ganun. Like any other employee, siguro ako ‘yung employee na loyal sa isang kumpanya.”
During the interview, Yam also had some unsolicited advice to maintain a harmonious relationship with a company. According to Yam, you just have to keep open communication and if there’s something against your will, you are free to state it, so both parties could adjust and prevent burning bridges. In addition to that, Yam also admitted that she declined an offer from Viva before, due to her hectic schedule for a TV series.
“Kailangan open ka sa kanila, sa mga ayaw mo, ayaw mo. Meron rin, kasi nga hindi dahil ayaw kong gawin because of the story, it’s because ‘yung timing lang, kung kelan gagawin kasi hindi malagay sa schedule. Teleserye kasi ginagawa ko, ang hirap gumawa ng pelikula kasi puyat puyat.”
In light of the issue between Nadine Lustre and Viva Films, Yam is still open to working with Nadine for future projects.
“Oo naman, why not? Hindi naman porket umalis na siya sa Viva eh, magiging isyu rin sa ‘kin ‘yon.”
Furthermore, Yam shared the importance of staying humble in spite of successful projects you have done over the years. Staying humble will open more opportunities for you and grow your professional network.
Yam continued: “Siyempre, importante ‘yan kahit saang trabaho ka, kailangang marunong ka, dapat ‘wag mo kalimutan kung san ka nangaling. Kailangan magpasalamat ka, kung sino nagpasikat sayo, kung sino nagbigay sayo ng trabaho, you should also be grateful, mas lalo ka pagpapalain kung ganun ‘yung attitude mo.”
