Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta. Maria shared a thought-provoking reminder to the public amid the ongoing political tension and controversies in the country.

In a post on X published Thursday, May 14, Jodi emphasized how the people and beliefs individuals devote themselves to can eventually shape their identity and values.
“You become the person you worship,” the actress wrote.
“Whatever or whoever you devote yourself to eventually shapes your character, values, and identity,” she added.
Jodi then ended her message with a simple but direct reminder: “Choose wisely.”
The actress later followed it up with another post saying, “God bless the Philippines.”
Although Jodi Sta. Maria did not directly mention any politician or political issue, many netizens connected her statement to the recent political developments involving the Senate, including the reported shooting incident inside the Senate compound and the controversy surrounding Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa and the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant issue.
The actress’ post quickly gained traction online, with many social media users sharing their own interpretations of her message.
Some netizens agreed with her reminder and stressed the importance of being careful about the leaders and personalities people support.
“Do not worship people. Only God is worthy of our worship,” one commenter wrote.
Another netizen added, “Vote wisely and always pray for peace.”
Others also used the comment section to express their frustrations regarding the current political climate in the country.
The reactions came following the tension inside the Senate on the evening of May 13, where gunshots were reportedly heard amid the ongoing controversy involving Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa.
Malacañang later confirmed through Palace Press Officer Claire Castro that the gunfire involved personnel from the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) and the National Bureau of Investigation.
Despite the tension, Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa was reportedly able to leave the Senate compound while authorities continued efforts related to the ICC warrant issue.
