Celebrity Darwin Yu revealed that he is currently single and ready to date.
In an exclusive interview with LionhearTV, the 23-year-old actor spoke about his dating life.
“I’m still looking for the right one,” he said.
Darwin noted that he never gets tired of waiting for love.
“Waiting but contented,” he said.
For him, Darwin believes that love is “something you need to take good care of.”
“I need this (love). Everyone needs it,” he said.
Darwin also admitted having a crush on Kapamilya actress Alexa Ilacad.
He said Alexa was among his favorite celebrities, alongside with Tirso Cruz III, Albert Martinez, Eula Valdez, and Lotlot de Leon.
Darwin said it was Rico Yan and Aga Muhlach, who inspired him to become an actor.
“I remember when I was around 6 to 7 years old, mahilig na ako manood ng mga teleserye. Ang idol ko talaga si Rico Yan and Aga Muhlach noong time na ‘yun,” he shared.
“Ginagaya ko sila. Uma-acting ako sa salamin nun. Bata pa lang ako I saw the arts of showbiz and I wanted to be a part of it,” he added.
According to Darwin, his acting career started after he became an “extra” in ABS-CBN’s comedy series Luv U.
“It’s all started way back 2014. Nagbabakasakali lang ako. Umiikot-ikot sa ABS-CBN. Then one day someone came to me and asked if I wanted to be an extra sa ‘LUV U’ show,” the actor said.
“And I accepted it. P500 lang TF (talent fee) ko nun but sobrang saya ko na,” he added.
Darwin rose to prominence when he portrayed a lead role in the coming-of-age film, “1st Sem” in 2016.
“It was my first lead role and the hardest. Medyo nangangapa pa kasi ako. Kaya parang may kulang ako when it comes to acting,” he said.
“Ngayon alam ko na importante talagang aralin mo ‘yong character mo sa movie or series,” he added.
1st Sem, which tackles a mother-child relationship, won Best Feature Film at the All Lights India International Film festival.
Darwin’s co-star, Lotlot, was also honored with a Sole Acting Citation for her “exceptional performance” in the movie.
Darwin said Lotlot was his closest friend among his fellow stars.
“Dami niyang tinuro sa ‘kin. Love na love ko siya!” he noted.
At present, the actor said he’s busy preparing for his upcoming shows.
“I’ll be part of ‘My Extra-Ordinary’ series produced by Asterisk na ipapalabas sa TV5,” Darwin said.
“I will also be doing two online shows under Asterisk. Ang ‘Lights Camera Action’ na ako iyong host and ‘You’re My Baby’ kasama ko si Z Mejia,” he added.

I learn how to prepare when I started my workshop at Star Magic. Pero iba pala ‘pag totoo na. I study my character, the script. Dapat alam mo ‘yung right emotions to insert. Be the character.

One of my short film “Beki’t Ako.” Puro tawanan. Ang saya ng mga kasama ko and of course my role. Isa akong madayang bakla dito. Echoserang palaka! Ha ha!
YOUR DREAM ROLE
I always wanted to try something new. Gusto ko ‘yung mga dark films with story to tell. Mga mental health issues. ‘Yung may mga sakit. A tear-jerker character. I wanted to inspire people.
DESCRIBE YOUR MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE AT A TAPING
‘Yung first time kong nasigawan at namura ng direktor ko kasi nag-Starbucks kami ng RM (road manager) ko. Akala ko ipinaalam ako. May need pala na i-shoot. But I learned from it.

Work out, bonding with my family and friends and rest.
WHAT’S THE MOST ADVENTUROUS THING YOU’VE DONE SO FAR?
My trip in Bali, Indonesia with family in 2018. Dami kong na-meet na locals and foreigners. I tried a lot of extreme and nighttime adventures there.
WHAT’S THE MOST EXPENSIVE THING YOU HAVE EVER BOUGHT?
None yet. Hindi ako magastos. My family is providing what I need and tinutulungan ako mag-ipon.
