Kapuso star Ai-Ai Delas Alas asked for quick action as she called out Mayor Joy Belmonte after a video showing the riot involving the military officers and the residents of Barangay Bagong Pag-Asa in Quezon City went viral.
In the video, some QC residents were arrested by police after staging a rally which was supposed to be their way to demand food or financial assistance from the local government amid the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.
The 55-year old comedian asked the executive officials of QC to understand the situation of their starving people and to provide the assistance they are asking for since conducting a rally will only compromise their health, safety, and the possibility of catching COVID-19.
On Instagram, the Kapuso host and comedian wrote, “Mayora at mga officials ng QC… Ibigay niyo na para di na sila mag rally bukod sa kawawa naman na sila walang makain magkakahawaan pa yan kasi lumalabas. Isa tayo sa madaming may covid-[19]. Please naman, salamat po.”

The Militant group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) also condemned the arrest of some QC residents who were only crying for immediate help from the local government in the midst of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
“Mariin naming kinokondena ang pandarahas at pag-aresto sa mga taong nagugutom at humihingi ng pagkain at kagyat na tulong mula sa gobyerno [We strongly condemn the violence and the arrest made against those who are hungry and only asking for food and urgent help from the government],” Bayan Secretary-General Renato Reyes stated.
Meanwhile, Delas Alas and Belmonte trended on Twitter as netizens noticed that the QC Mayor sounds like the former when speaking.
The netizens can’t help but notice the similarities in their voices as Belmonte is very fond of being interviewed for her COVID-19 crisis efforts.
