Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto assured the public that he thoroughly understands the danger of COVID-19 and how it can affect someone’s health drastically.
On Wednesday afternoon, Vico remind the public to stop being ‘nimby’ as the virus can’t get pass through the walls, since ‘nimby’ attitude is now happening in New Jersey and Connecticut.
Nimby is an informal term to refer to a person who objects to an organization or a project being located close to where they live.
In which, residents specifically in Darien, Connecticut are planning to shut down the government’s plan to hold a testing site due to high demand to conduct test kit for possible COVID-19 patients due to “Not In My Backyard” policy.
Another nimby landlord in Ewing, New Jersey released a cease-and-desist letter to prevent the coronavirus testing center nearby his property as the parking lot started to be congested.
The same scenario also happened in California way back in February, Americans returning from abroad with the virus are looking for isolated and temporary shelter or quarantine site. However, residents started to complain to the extent that even the city officials sought and eventually received a court injunction to stop the project.
