Pinoy Big Brother 2016 Big Winner Maymay Entrata shared that she already has plans on continuing her studies since she stopped temporarily because she entered the showbiz industry.
Ever since she won in the reality game show franchise, the Kapamilya actress has been the breadwinner of her family. She has been working really hard to support her family. Although she admits that the process is hard, she said that she will continue to strive for the sake of her family who gives her the love and strength that she needs.
“Hindi ko siya masabing madali. Nung 19 years old pa lang ako, naging breadwinner na ako simula po nung nanalo ako sa ‘PBB.’ Nung una akala ko, okay lang kasi blessing. Spread ko lang ‘yung blessing, okay na ‘yun. Pero ‘yung proseso na ‘yun, ‘yun ‘yung mahirap,” she explained in an interview with Toni Gonzaga for her online show I Feel U.
The young actress mentioned that it was extremely difficult for her to stand as the breadwinner of her family but said that she continues to do so because it was something that she personally wanted.
“Opo dumating na hirap na hirap ako pero kasi ginusto ko ito. Ginusto ko na maitaguyod ang pamilya ko sa kahirapan at malaking pagkakataon ito para sa akin na ito ‘yung way ko para matulungan sila,” she said.
The Kapamilya actress explained that as long as she is able to, she will continue to provide for her family because she was blessed with the means and opportunity to do so. Despite all the hardships and sacrifices she has to make, like her studies, Entrata said seeing her family in a much better place makes everything worth it.
Maymay only needed two more years for her to graduate college but was forced to stop because she entered the Pinoy Big Brother House. But she said that she plans to study this coming semester.
“Marami din akong nasakripisyo gaya ng pag-aaral ko. Four years na ako nag-stop sa pag-aaral. Two years na lang sana, ga-graduate na ako kaya this semester mag-e-enroll na ako,” she said.
She mentioned that all her sacrifices were worth it because she was able to provide the needs of her family. During special occasions or holidays, she was pleased to know that her family can have delicious food on their dining table unlike before when her family couldn’t afford all those things.
She also mentioned that she comes from a broken family that’s why she treats all her cousins like her own brothers and sisters. She said that she is proud that her cousins are doing good in school.
“Katulad ‘yung pagkain, hindi mo naman napipili ‘yung gusto mong kainin dati, hindi mo nabibili agad ‘yung gusto mo. Masaya sila every time may selebrasyon like birthday or Christmas. Naibibigay ko ‘yung gusto nila. Pinaka-proud ako ay ‘yung mga pinsan ko na nag-aaral ng mabuti. Lahat kaming magpipinsan, parang magkakapatid na kami,” said Maymay.
Entrata said that she wishes for her family’s continuous blessings and guidance from the Lord. She hopes that they will remain humble and contented because she wanted them to always be reminded of where they came from.
“Dream ko sa family ko na kahit siguro abundant ‘yung blessing na patuloy na binibigay ni Lord sa amin, sana hindi mawala ‘yung pagiging kuntento sa kung ano ‘yung meron tayo at pagiging blessing din sa mga mas nangangailangan pa kaysa sa atin,” she said.
When asked if she wishes something for herself as a breadwinner, Entrata said: “Dream ko para sa sarili ko ay makapagtapos ng pag-aaral. Dream ko na balang araw na maibigay ni Lord iyong desire sa puso ko. Dream ko na maipagpatuloy ko na maging blessings din sa mga taong gusto kong tulungan pa”
She learned that she should not pressure herself, but rather work on having more patience in dealing with life. She said that she was so thankful for her supporters who never left her side in her 4 years in the showbiz. She was grateful for all her fans and the fans of MayWard (Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber) as well. Barber is her love team partner.
MayWard already released their statement regarding their true relationship saying that even though having a romantic relationship is a pleasant feeling, they decided to remain just friends.
The MayWard love team started inside the PBB house that was supported by thousands of fans.
The tandem was this year’s Push Awards big winners. Push Awards aims to give recognition to those who power digital media and the said event concluded on February 16 with a live telecast on iWant ASAP.
MayWard took home a total of seven awards namely Push #OOTDGoals for Male and Female, Female TV Performance of the Year for Maymay, Male and Female Celebrities of the Year, Young Love, and Ultimate Fan for their solid fan group.
They shared that their upcoming TV show was put on hold as the country is still being threatened by the coronavirus. Japan plays a big part in the tandem’s show as some of the big scenes needed to be taken there. There were major changes with the scripts as the production team tries to cope with the new normal.
“Kasi ngayon po iniaayos ang script namin dahil sa coronavirus. Laging safety first lalo na ngayon… ‘Yung location kasi na target namin is Japan,” Maymay said.
“Let’s just see what happens, pray for it. I’m sure things will be fine,” Edward added.
Maymay is set to have a special participation in Star Cinema’s first digital project “The Four Bad Boys and Me.”
This upcoming content is the first installment of “Listen 2 Love,” which is described by the film outfit as a “lovecast” series, or a podcast anthology that falls under the love story genre.
Aside from Entrata, Karina Bautista, Aljon Mendoza, Mark Rivera, Alora Sasam, Chie Filomeno, and Jenny Jamora will be part of the project. They will join former “PBB” housemates Kaori Oinuma and Rhys Miguel, who were the first cast members named to be part of the show.
Maymay came to prominence in 2016, after winning Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky 7. She signed a deal with Star Magic and began her acting career by starring in the romantic comedy Loving in Tandem (2017).
