In his Instagram post, actor Robin Padilla lauded the white sand beach project for the 500-meter portion of Manila Bay.

He also noted that he sees this as an accomplishment of the government because despite the COVID-19 threat, as a taxpayer he would rather see white sand instead of garbage.

“Ibigay natin sa gobyerno ang tamang pagkilala sa accomplishment na ito dahil may covid 19 man o wala bilang isang Tax payer pipiliin ko na ang white sand kesa sa basura,” said Robin on his Instagram post.

Robin’s wife, Actress Mariel Padilla also commented on the post asking why there are a lot of criticisms about the project. She also noted that at the very least people can now see where the government spends their taxes.

“Ngayon sila nag reklamo? Ang hindi ko maintindihan is lagi natin hinahanap kung saan napunta yung tax na binabayad natin… ayan oh.. at least yan nakikita natin diba. Tapos may complain parin?” said Mariel on the Instagram post.

A lot of celebrities opposed the white sand beach project. They have also expressed concerns about the observation of social distancing guidelines. They also noted that this is not the best time to focus on this project due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
