After the shutdown of ABS-CBN, some artists from the network’s talent management arm Star Magic decided to leave the group as well.
Julia Barretto already signed up with Viva and there is news circulating that Bea Alonzo already has a new manager, Shirley Kuan. Kuan used to handle commercials for Bea and other Star Magic talents, but now, she will handle the career of Bea.
Piolo Pascual is also rumored to be leaving Star Magic. Accordingly, he will move to Cornerstone Entertainment but, there has been no confirmation yet regarding this issue.
Piolo currently hosts TV5 Sunday Noontime Live! together with other Star Magic artists.
As ABS-CBN shut down its broadcast, it also released contracts of its talents and employees as part of their retrenchment program. This means that ABS-CBN artists can already accept projects from other networks.
Star Magic talents were allowed to look for another manager should they choose to do so but Star Magic itself continues to manage their artists.
More Star Magic artists are expected to move to another network, especially to TV5. This is because Johnny Manahan, former Star Magic head, signed up as Production Consultation with Brightlight Productions which currently has a block time deal with the Kapatid network.
