Julia Barretto revealed that she got traumatized after her past breakup in her interview with Mega Entertainment’s G3 San Diego for its November issue.
Recently, the 23-year-old actress revealed that she is now in love, addressing rumors about her alleged new romance. Basing on her social media posts and interviews, many netizens presumed that she is now in a relationship and she is only trying to keep it private.
The actress related that her past relationship that was known to the public caused her to have traumatic experiences.
“I think nobody understands the kind of trauma of having a relationship so public, and then also have a lot of people see when your relationship fails,” Barretto said.
She did not mention any names but it was assumed that she was pertaining to her past break up with Joshua Garcia, her previous on-screen and real-life partner.
“Like it’s so traumatizing for me because I genuinely cared about this guy, I genuinely loved this guy, and then I shared so much that when we broke up, they thought they knew the whole story. They thought they knew my pains, they thought they knew my joys, they thought they knew everything — all the reasons that caused the breakup. But nobody really does,” she shared.
Following this episode in her life,the actress said she has now learned how to handle her personal relationships with others. She also realized the importance of having peace and privacy, gaining control of how much personal details she is willing to share with everyone.
“So one of the things I made myself confident in when it comes to my personal relationships is that, I’m in control,” Barretto said in her Mega interview. “I am in total control of how much I am only willing to share and how much I am only allowing people to know.”
“I’ve already come to realize how important it is to protect your peace and privacy — and that both go well together.”
Julia and Joshua or JoshLia rose as one of the popular loveteams in ABS-CBN since their pairing in 2017 via the movie Vince and Kath and James. The two had their last teleserye via Ngayon at Magpakailanman in 2018, however, rumors about their split came after Barretto worked with Gerald Anderson in the Blacksheep film Between Maybes.
Barretto and Garcia separated in mid-2019 and later announced in public that they decided to end up as “best friends”.Their breakup was one of the biggest showbiz controversies in 2019 as Julia was romantically linked with Anderson at that time.
Anderson is currently single after coming out from his failed relationship with actress Bea Alonzo, allegedly caused by Barretto.
Amidst the ongoing rumors, Barretto and Anderson repeatedly denied being romantically involved with each other.
