Despite all of the challenges ABS-CBN faced this 2020, from the pandemic, franchise denial, and network shutdown, several artists of the media giant remained loyal to the Kapamilya network.
In the media event titled Star Magic Shines On, eight artists signed exclusive contracts with ABS-CBN. They are Kim Chiu, Jane de Leon, Enchong Dee, JM de Guzman, Andrea Brillantes, Kira Balinger, Joseph Marco, and Robi Domingo.
ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak thanked the Kapamilya stars at the event. Firstly, said that the struggles they faced brought out the best in the Kapamilya network.
“Ang hirap-hirap po ng taong 2020, but ABS-CBN has always been at its best in its most difficult times. This year is no exception,” said Katigbak.
He then added that the network has not stopped finding new ways to serve the Filipino.
“Our commitment to serve the public is the foundation of our company. And so, even without everything that we’re used to, we have not stopped finding new ways to be in the service of the Filipino,” said Katigbak.
He also thanked all of the artists present in the recently released ABS-CBN Christmas Station ID, Ikaw Ang Liwanag at Ligaya.
“Kayo po ang nagbibigay ng liwanag at ligaya sa ating mga Kapamilya, Thank you for choosing to be part of our mission. Thank you for believing in our company. And thank you for supporting us in our most difficult moments,” said Katigbak.
Earlier this year, ABS-CBN’s shutdown caused a huge shift in the free TV landscape causing artists and talents of the media giant to move to other networks. Despite the struggles, several artists remained with ABS-CBN during their shift to digital platforms, and free TV return through A2Z channel 11.
