Five years after GMA Network drew up its plans for a digital TV dongle, it is finally here.
GMA Network launched its new DTV mobile dongle under GMA NOW. One of the main features of the GMA Dongle is its ability to access GMA channels, including GMA News TV, GMA Heart of Asia, and HallyPop, as well as other free-to-air channels available in your region.
There is also a feature in the accompanying app to watch on-demand GMA Network videos, as well as chat with your family, friends, and Kapuso artists via the Groupee chat brewing feature.
Since 2019, GMA Network has already planned to combine digital TV viewing and the fun elements of mobile interactivity in GMA Now.
In an interview with Felipe Gozon, he shared that one of the aims of GMA NOW it to set out its device plans, including a feature that will allow analog TV sets to receive digital transmissions (similar to devices already on the market) and that the dongle will be as small as a feature phone.
“Our digital device, which will have features that our competitors do not have, will be finally launched With the other features, I am hoping na madaling mabenta. Mas mura eh. But sa smartphone muna.”
Similar to other digital TV channels and TV boxes out there, this is limited in signal availability—GMA states that it operates within portions of Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Cavite, Laguna, Baguio City, Pangasinan, Batangas, Metro Cebu, and Metro Davao.
The listing was first discovered by the people from DTV Pilipinas on the official GMA Network Shopee account, where the item will be sold at a price tag of PHP 649.
The default port is MicroUSB, but there will also be a MicroUSB to USB Type-C adapter included in the box for those who own phones with reversible connections.
INTEREST: DTV Pilipinas has received information about a new product for GMA Network. It is a Digital TV dongle called “GMA Now” and it will be available Soon at GMA Store’s Shopee and Lazada pages.
