Kapamilya actor Enchong Dee brought up the issue of the stolen P15 billion by PhilHealth officials anew after he reacted to a parody song by Sunday ‘Kada which briefly mentioned the issue.

On January 6, the cast of the variety show Sunday ‘Kada posted their parody version of the Christmas song ’12 Days of Christmas.’ The cast changed the lyrics of the song into a series of relative events that happened mostly within the Philippines in the year 2020.

Some of the lyrics mentioned the House speakership fight between Alan Cayetano and Allan Velasco, denied franchise of ABS-CBN, controversial dolomite beach, COVID-19 virus outbreak, and Taal eruption.

In one part of the song, the cast mentioned the Philhealth issue where PHP15 billion pesos were stolen by PhilHealth officials.

“Sa PhilHealth may kurakot,” said the lyrics.

On Saturday, January 9, Enchong addressed the said PhilHealth issue on his Twitter account. The actor questioned if there was an update on the issue as it was never resolved by the government.

“May balita na ba sa P15 billion na ninakaw sa @teamphilhealth?” the actor wrote in reply to a tweet of the parody song.

In August 2020, it was reported that P15 billion in funds of Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) fattened the wallets of a “syndicate’’ in the state-run health insurer in 2019 alone.

Former Philhealth president and CEO Ricardo Morales faced the rage of the Filipino people as he was the one being pointed at stealing the said funds.

Morales resigned from his position on August 26 after President Dutere asked him to due to his health problems. He was then replaced by former National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Dante Gierran on August 31.

Recently, it was reported that PhilHealth still has an outstanding debt with the private hospital The Medical City that amounts to P1 billion as of December 2020.

Enchong Dee is a contract artist of ABS-CBN’s talent management arm, Star Magic. He came into prominence after starring in the hit drama series Katorse (2009).

He recently posted his reaction to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque’s statement regarding the smuggled COVID-19 vaccine as something that should be considered as a “token” this Christmas season.

“Eto yung administration na walang group chat at gagamitin lahat ng words sa dictionary para makalusot sa batas na sila mismo ang lumalabag,” he wrote on Twitter.
