Film director Jerrold Tarog has set the record straight regarding the upcoming Darna TV Series.
In a tweet, Tarog responded to a netizen who asked him if he will still be part of the TV version of Darna.
He said he’s not going to be part of the upcoming series due to conflicts in schedule. However, Tarog also shared that he will still have involvement in the Ravelo universe in the future.
“Unfortunately, I’m not going to be involved in the TV series due to scheduling conflicts. But some doors remain open regarding my future involvement in the Ravelo universe. We will see.
He then asked people to still support ABS-CBN and the new Darna Jane De Leon.
“For now, I wish ABS-CBN & @Imjanedeleon all the best. Let’s continue to support them.”

Tarog was supposed to direct the new Darna movie after assuming the directorial job from Erik Matti who drop out of the project due to irreconcilable differences with the producers.
However, with the pandemic and the ABS-CBN shutdown, the movie project was shelved for the meantime.
Meanwhile, Tarog was one of those who personally chose Jane to be the next Darna.
In 2019, Tarog was one of the first to announce the choice for the next Darna which happened to be de Leon.
“Glad it’s finally out. The execs wanted a new face for Darna & I was all for it. Thus, open auditions—newbies, celebs, chinita, mestiza, morena, etc basta.The short list was a good mix but ultimately it was about who could carry the role. @Imjanedeleon was a unanimous choice.”
