Crystal Voice of Asia Sheryn Regis recounted her regrets when she left the Philippines at the height of her singing career.

In an interview, Sheryn admitted that she regrets leaving the country. However, she realized that it felt tiring not being able to sing in the Philippines.

“Yes, Sobra. Kasi parang feeling ko kasi, when I left the Philippines akala ko, Okay na. Simpleng buhay, or ‘di ako mapapagod. Pero nakakapagod pala kapag hindi ako kumakanta dito sa Pilipinas,” said Sheryn.

Then, as she was pursuing her career as a teacher in the USA, she realized the difference between performing for Americans and performing for the Filipinos.

“Akala ko okay ‘dun, nagco-concert ako ‘dun, I teach, nagte-teach ako. Pero iba pa rin ‘yung mag-perform para sa aking mga kababayan dito sa Pilipinas, at mag-record ng mga singles ko,” said Sheryn.

She then admitted to missing her batchmates in Star In A Million, recounting the times they met in the past year.

“Minsan nagkaka-unite kami sa Kumu, nag-iistream kami. Inviting, nagkakausap kami. Like Eric, last February 28 last year, nag-concert ako, isa siya sa mga guest ko noon. Nanjan pa rin ‘yung suportahan namin. Pero nakakamiss talaga. Iba pa rin ‘yung batch namin,” said Sheryn.

She added that she’s open to pursuing acting in Kapamilya teleseryes.

“Acting is so welcome for me. I don’t know if i-welcome din nila ako. I don’t know if Star Music or ABS-CBN Music can lead me into an acting career because I can always do that,” said Sheryn.

Additionally, she revealed that her batchmate in the reality singing competition, Eric Santos was her confidant.

“Napaka gentleman talaga sa akin ni Eric. Sobrang close talaga sa akin. Naging confidant ko din si Eric Santos,” said Sheryn.

When she was in the US, Sheryn was pursuing her career as a teacher. She highlighted that she did not regret teaching because it helped her practice her degree in education.

“Parang hindi ko na naisip na magteach after na mag-start ako mag showbiz. So ginawa ko lang sa America.

“I have this chance to teach para ma-practice ko naman ‘yung grinaduate ko ‘dun sa Philippines. Pero wala kong regrets kasi nagawa ko naman ‘yung mga dapat kong gawin,” said Sheryn.

Sheryn said that she focused her time as a mother to her child while she was in the US.

“Besides being a mom to a child, mahirap din siya maiwan. Kasi I have to take care of her also. Kasi since I gave birth to her, nag-showbiz na ko. Ang dami kong pagkukulang so ‘yung time na ‘yun, when I left showbiz, sabi ko “it’s my time to become a mother,” said Sheryn.

She finally said that she had no regrets as she gave her child a good life.

“Wala kong regret kasi nabigyan ko siya ng magandang buhay,” said Sheryn.

Sheryn released her homecoming, Tulad ng Dati, under Star Music. Sheryn was in the first season of ABS-CBN’s Star In A Million in the early 2000s, arguably the most successful batch of the reality TV singing competition.
