Pres. Rodrigo Duterte offers to resign (again) if he can’t give the barest minimum peace in Mindanao; personalities, netizens react

Due to the recent attacks in Datu Paglas town in Maguindanao, President Rodrigo Duterte announced on Tuesday, May 11, that he will resign if he cannot bring Mindanao to its barest minimum of becoming a peaceful place.

Duterte has many announcements of resigning during his term, and this one of those. Twitter personalities and netizens reacted and unbothered by his declaration.

Twitter personality Pepc Paloma expressed her frustration, noting that only those with the same mindset would believe Duterte at this point.

Tama na hayop ka! Kapwa mo buang nalang maniniwala sayo. Siraulo! https://t.co/1ofslxMKu9

Twitter personality Gina Policarpio told the President that he kept on declaring that he will resign, but in reality–he can’t. Duterte, for her, is scared to lose power.

Ayan nanaman itong putragis na mag reresign. Di naman maka resign kasi takot mawala sa poder! Panis!https://t.co/egrIg7PFEv

— Gina A. Policarpio (@gapolicarpio) May 11, 2021

Twitter personality James Banaag posted a video clip of Duterte’s previous speeches and noted that the President still doesn’t make good on his promise.

di pa rin natupad— https://t.co/BDBxb24zRX

This screenwriter @Eric_Cabahug scrutinized the declaration and said that it’s another ploy of Duterte to gain sympathy from his supporters.

Duterte’s 364th empty promise to resign with matching fake humility and all-for-show bleeding heart drama. Just effing do it already! https://t.co/PU2oZrLLBH

Another netizen expressed through a meme his disbelief at the President’s announcement.

This netizen brushed off his speech and treated it as another joke.

JOKE PO BA ITO? PANG-ILANG RESIGN NA BA ITO?

This netizen pointed out that the President has announced his resignation more than the number of times he did his job.

I think he says "I will resign" more than he actually works.#DuterteResign @inquirerdotnet

A netizen noted how the President’s office ran out of relevant ideas to discuss.

President Duterte also made the same political move vowing his resignation if he cannot end graft and corruption. However, twitter personalities and netizens didn’t buy the said act.

During his term, Duterte has bargained his post several times without him resolving anything.

Recently, he admitted that he joked about his promise during his campaign in which he would ride a jetski to fend off Chinese vessels from Philippine waters.
