The Puregold Channel recently launched its first digital series, GVBOYS: Pangmalakasang Good Vibes, inspired by the ’90s sitcom.

The question now is–will it survive the political correctness of 2021?

Director Don Cuaresma clarified that although GVBOYS pulls inspiration from the 90s sitcom. They made sure to apply modern or contemporary writing to each scene.

“First of all, inspired lang naman ‘yung show namin ng Palibhasa Lalake at saka ‘yung mga ’90s na shows. But the scripting is modern, is ngayon, is very now. May Millennials, may jokes din na pang matatanda.”

Cuaresma also added that their sole purpose for the digital series is to make people laugh.

“‘Yung pinaka-ano lang naman is ‘yung tatawa ka and at the same time hahaplusin ‘yung puso mo para maging mabuting tao. Para may matutunan kang leksyon. ‘Yun naman ang importante. And, with that, you cannot go wrong. Laugh out loud with a heart.”

According to him, the series appeals to millennials and the older generations who fell in love with the ’90s sitcom.

“‘Yung mga writers namin, inaano namin na parang ano ba ‘yung ano sa TikTok. Ano ba ‘yung mga nakakatawa sa vloggers. Inaano namin ‘yun.

“May appeal s’ya sa millennials. At the same time, hindi naman na-e-etsepwera sila Carmi Martin, ‘yung I consider one of the first leading ladies of comedy of sitcoms on television. Si Wilma, tapos ‘yung mga bata.”

He revealed as well that they handpicked the actors and gauged their social media presence before casting them.

“‘Yung tatlong actors na yan, pinili namin ‘yan in cooperation sa Puregold, si Miss Ivy at saka ‘yung Republic team. Kami nag-decide na kunin ‘yung tatlo.

“Finallow namin kung ano ‘yung naging, in casting ‘yung mga artista namin, finallow namin ‘yung social media following nila. Kung sino ‘yung malakas sa social media kinunsider namin ‘yun.”

The digital series stars Jerome Ponce, Nikko Natividad, and Dave Bornea.

Joining them are comedy powerhouse Wilma Doesn’t, Elsa Droga, and Ms. Carmi Martin.

GVBOYS: Pangmalakasang Good Vibes will have eight episodes plus two special episodes. It starts streaming on Puregold Channel’s facebook and YouTube pages on July 10, 7 pm.
