Actress Julia Barretto has denied posting a viral “cryptic” message that circulated on social media and was linked by some netizens to the ongoing controversy involving her former on-screen and real-life partner, Joshua Garcia.
The screenshot, which quickly gained traction online, allegedly came from Barretto’s Instagram Story and contained the quote: “Fine wine comes from Juicy Grapes, but before it actually gets good, it’s always stuck being green first.”
Some social media users speculated that the phrase “Juicy Grapes” was a veiled reference to Garcia because of his initials, JG. The post surfaced as the actor continued to trend online over discussions surrounding his alleged political leanings.
Barretto immediately dismissed the claim by sharing the circulating screenshot and issuing a brief but direct clarification.
“I never posted this.”
Her statement sparked mixed reactions online. While some netizens continued to speculate that the actress may have deleted the supposed Instagram Story before denying it, many of her fans came to her defense, pointing out that they had been monitoring her social media accounts and never saw such a post.
As of writing, there is no evidence that the alleged Instagram Story was ever published on Barretto’s official account. The actress has not made any further remarks about the matter beyond her denial.
The issue comes as Barretto and Garcia have once again become a topic of conversation following reports that they are set to reunite for a new drama series. According to entertainment reports, the two are expected to headline a major project for a streaming platform, marking their first television series together since ‘Ngayon at Kailanman’ in 2018. An official announcement from ABS-CBN Studios has yet to be made.
The former love team last reunited on the big screen in the 2024 hit film ‘Un/Happy for You’, which was well received by audiences and reignited fans’ hopes of seeing the pair collaborate again.
