EXCLUSIVE: Joshua Garcia updates about his projects ‘Keys to the Heart’, ‘Boys Don’t Cry’, ‘Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan’

ABS-CBN’s precious young male star Joshua Garcia has announced some updates and progress on his ongoing projects that have been halted for a while because of the pandemic—Keys to the Heart, Boys Don’t Cry, and Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan.

Garcia shared he is training hard for his role as an MMA fighter in Keys to the Heart.

“Sa ngayon, wala pang update. Na-move-move siya kasi ang hirap mag-operate ngayon lalo na walang prangkisa ‘di ba? Siguro next year, sana magawa na namin. Sa ngayon, pinagtutuunan ko na lang ng pansin ang training ko kasi ang character ko doon is an MMA fighter. Kung kailangan na naming mag-shoot, ready na ang katawan ko. Doon na lang muna ako nagpu-focus ngayon.”

Garcia feels sad about Boys Don’t Cry for the project is not suitable to be filmed under the current crisis. It is under the iWant production.

“’Yung ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ naman, mahirap mag-shoot ngayon kasi pandemic. ‘Yung mga eksena naming crowded. Syempre sa protocol ng government, hindi siya pwede. Hindi rin namin magagawa. Siguro kapag [nag-back to] normal na lang namin ‘yun maggagawa. Syempre matagal pa. Sayang.”

The actor shared they are already done shooting the film adaptation of Bob Ong’s mystery novel Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan. It will be directed by Chito Roño for Regal Entertainment.

“’Yung ‘Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan’ naman, dapat kasama siya sa MMFF last year pero hindi siya natuloy dahil masyadong baby ni Direk Chito, ayaw niyang pakawalan. Gusto niya puliduhin ang edit. May pakiramdam ako na ilalagay siya sa MMFF this year. Sana.”

Now, Garcia focuses on his new business, Academy of Rock—a music school that aims to hone the talents and skills of local Filipino artists.

Be sure not to miss Garcia’s upcoming series Viral that will be released in the last quarter of the year. Other celebrities will join him, like Charlie Dizon, Jake Cuenca, and Dimples Romana.
