Veteran Filipina talk show host, entertainment news writer, and talent manager Lolit Solis looked back on her issue with Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby that previously led to court.
In 2007, Solis wrote in her column for a local tabloid that she saw Pascual and Milby at a hotel. She mentioned that she saw the two seemingly whispering to each other.
The write-up unexpectedly escalated and earned the ire of the two Kapamilya actors.
In an interview with Ogie Diaz, Solis noted that she [really] did see the actors whispering to each other that’s why she gave malice to it.
“Nakita ko naman may binubulong so nagbigay ako ng malisya na may binubulungang lalaki si Piolo Pascual,” she said.
She said that it was Johnny “Mr. M” Manahan who filed the suit against her. When she asked why the director did so, Mr. M said that Solis validated the issue causing it to blow up.
“Noong dinemanda nila ako may nagsabi sa akin na ang nagdemanda nga daw ay si Direk Johnny Manahan.
“Sabi niya ‘Di bale na iba nagsulat, sana hindi ikaw. Kasi nung sa ‘yo parang vinalidate mo na ‘yung issue,'” said Solis.
At that time, the write-up of Solis blew up as the article was received quite maliciously by some, because of the issues surrounding the long-questioned sexuality of Pascual.
Milby and Pascual wanted Solis to retract her statement, and when the latter refused, the two filed for a P12 million libel suit against the talent manager.
Solis explained that the case was eventually withdrawn because the actors forgave her.
“Pinatawad nila ako. Tinanggap nila ‘yung apology ko.
“Oo, nag-sorry ako sa kanila,” she said.
She also noted that the issue made her realize how polite Pascual is.
“Doon ko na-realize kung gaano kabait si Piolo Pascual. ‘Pag nagkakataong nagkikita kayo, ako umiiwas dahil s’yempre nahihiya ako. Pero siya [Piolo] ang lumalapit.
“Doon ko nakita kung gaano siya ka-polite. Kaya na-appreciate ko talaga ‘yun,” she said.
Solis and Pascual have already reconciled with each other in 2017, a decade after their 2007 controversy.
The two exchanged a brief hug with each other during the photo opportunity session of Pascual’s Northern Lights press conference.
