Kapuso actress Rhian Ramos is a nun whose faith is tested after going through a series of deaths in her family on this Saturday’s (July 24) episode of Wish Ko Lang.
Still part of the month-long 19th anniversary specials of the GMA Public Affairs program, the episode “Kumbento” tells the story of Grace (Rhian) and her journey to regaining her faith in God.
After losing their family to an accident a year ago, Grace and her sister Michelle (Ayeesha Cervantes) thought their hardships were over. But Michelle becomes a rape victim and while she gets rushed to the hospital, she does not make it alive.
Grace returns to the convent as a new person—far from the faithful woman devoted to serving God. She does not want to be a nun anymore. Before leaving though, a young lady named Pauline (Althea Ablan) gets entrusted to her.
Pauline reminds Grace of her late sister and like Michelle, Grace is also a rape victim. A special bond between them begins to blossom but little by little Grace discovers that Pauline is being possessed by spirits. Will Grace be able to save Pauline with what is left of her faith?
Rhian shared how she enjoyed doing a project with Wish Ko Lang.
“I’m honored to play the role of Sister Grace. Ang ganda nung pagkasulat ng script which always makes my job easier kasi naging klaro yung emotions and naramdaman ko talaga yung emotions na pinagdaanan niya sa kwento.”
Life, she says, is full of ups and downs.
“Mahirap naman talaga ang buhay, minsan may pagdadaanan tayo na sobrang hirap or sobrang sakit na kaya niyang baguhin ang mga bagay na pinaniniwalaan natin. But iyon talaga ‘yung moments na mas kailangan natin maging matatag at malakas. And kailangan nating maalala that everything happens for a reason, na mayroon tayong Diyos who just wants the best for us and wants us to be better and stronger. Sometimes it requires pain and pressure.”
Wish Ko Lang prepared five special episodes as part of its 19th anniversary this July. Last week’s special episode “A Second Chance” was bannered by veteran actor Albert Martinez with Kapuso star Kelvin Miranda.
“Kumbento” is directed by Rommel Penesa, headwritten by Erwin Caezar Bravo, and written by Adam Cornelius Asin. The Clash Season 2 Grand Champion Jeremiah Tiangco sang the episode’s theme song, “Isang Araw Pa.”
