Marlo Mortel hints at his fate as a Kapamilya artist

On his press conference for his latest single Bituin, Marlo Mortel teased his announcement regarding his fate as a Kapamilya.

“Malalaman n’yo ‘yan soon. Malapit na malapit na, makikita n’yo kung ano ba talaga.”

Mortel is best known for his role in the Kapamilya series, Be Careful with My Heart (2012). He was paired with the young artist Janella Salvador.

Mortel said he doesn’t mind working with Salvador again, but he wants to focus on his career goals.

“I don’t mind because its still work at the end of the day. But as of the moment, I have personal goals sa career. And a lot of things are going to happen really soon.”

After his stint on teleseryes, Mortel pursued his career in music. His latest addition to his musical repertoire is the song, Bituin, which he dedicated to his friend.

During the conference, he also revealed that he co-produced the single under PolyEast Records.

“Talagang tinutukan ko siya. I never did that sa mga songs ko before except doon sa mga independently released ko no.

“It’s time for me to express myself fully. And I cannot do that, kung hindi ko tututukan ‘yung arrangement, pati ‘yung pagpro-produce, nagbibigay ako ng instructions.

“I don’t want to feel caged anymore. As an artist, I really want to be in control na din. Kasi nga time is precious. And I’ve been in the industry for a long time na din, and I guess this is the best version of me.”

He also addressed the possibility of having an extended play or an album.

“Hindi impossible na mangyari ‘yan. Kasi ‘yung mga message ng kanta ko recently ay all about mental health. If ever there would be an EP, its all about inspiring, motivating, and enlightening people lalo na dumaan tayo sa ganitong klase ng pandemic.”

Mortel’s new single, Bituin under PolyEast Records, is currently available on all streaming platforms.
