PUV Drivers win P500k jackpot in ‘Everybody, Sing!’

Lady luck smiled on a group of bus, jeepney, and tricycle drivers just before the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) is implemented in certain areas in the country as they won the P500,000 jackpot Sunday night (August 1) on “Everybody, Sing!” on the Kapamilya Channel and A2Z.

“Ang sarap makita na ang drivers natin ngayon ay nagbubunyi at nagdidiwang. Matagal-tagal na rin kayong hirap. Matagal-tagal na rin kayong kumakapit sa pag-asa kahit lihim na umiiyak at nagdudusa. Deserve niyo ‘to. Para sa inyo at para sa mga pamilya niyo,” host Vice Ganda said to the fourth songbayanan to win the jackpot in the country’s first community singing game show.

The drivers were off to a good start in the final round, correctly guessing seven of the ten songs immediately, and another two on their second try. The group, however, struggled with song number 6 as several of them failed to give the right song title with time dwindling down.

Finally, with a few seconds left on the clock, one of the drivers, Bryan, nailed the song’s title, which is the Sharon Cuneta classic “Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas.” The group jumped in joy as Vice announced their victory, while some had tears in their eyes.

“Meme Vice sobrang tuwa po. Kahit pagod kami sa paghahanapbuhay pero malaking bagay po ang inyong programa,” driver Cris shared after they won in the game show, which can also be watched on TFC, Kapamilya Online Live, and iWantTFC.

As in previous episodes, Vice Ganda enjoyed getting know the songbayanan in between rounds, learning more about their profession, their motivations, and experiences. She also brought out their fun and light side as she asked them about common perceptions about drivers like who among them are the sweetest lovers and the true kings of the road.

“Maraming-maraming salamat sa mga mukha ninyo na punong-puno ng pakikibaka, pag-asa at pagmamahal. Maraming, maraming salamat sa inyo, sa mga istorya ninyo. maraming salamat sa pakikisalamuha niyo sa akin,” she told them, as she also wished for their safety in their daily travels.

Meanwhile, another inspiring songbayanan played in the country’s first community game show on Saturday (July 31). The Bourne to Hike Mountaineers, a group that helps less-privileged Filipinos and indigenous communities in far-flung areas, took home P25,000 in the jackpot round after getting five correct answers, on top of their prizes in the earlier rounds.

“Ipagpatuloy po niyo ang ginagawa ninyo because that’s what the world needs right now – kindness, compassion, empathy, love for everyone,” said Vice, who also pledged to add to their winnings, which will be used to help the group’s beneficiaries.

Don’t miss the fun and exciting weekend bonding this Saturday and Sunday at 7 pm with Vice Ganda and resident band Six Part Invention as “Everybody, Sing!” delivers fresh episodes featuring seafarers and laundry men and women on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, TFC, Kapamilya Online Live, and iWantTFC. Viewers who use any digital TV box at home such as the TVplus box only need to rescan their device to be able to watch “Everybody, Sing!” on A2Z.
