The one and only Kapuso Millennial It Girl Gabbi Garcia clarified on Thursday, September 23, that she did not audition for the lead role of ABS-CBN’s Darna.
During her post-media conference after the contract renewal with GMA Network, she denied she wanted to get an iconic role from ABS-CBN.
“Hindi ako yun!” denied the 24-year-old Kapuso star.
In 2019, Kapamilya actress Liza Soberano, who was supposed to top-bill Darna, was reportedly exited after breaking her index finger. ABS-CBN then decided to conduct a public audition in search of the next Darna.
However, it escalated as rumors have claimed that Kapuso stars may have the possibility to play the role. GMA Artist Center even announced that they would investigate the matter.
Meanwhile, Garcia at that time shared on her Instagram a throwback photo of her wearing a Darna costume. It then received negative comments from netizens accusing her of wanting to take over the iconic role of the superheroine.
Apart from her, Bianca Umali and Sanya Lopez were also rumored to have auditioned too.
Garcia, who just renewed her contract with GMA Network is a regular performer at the Kapuso variety show All-Out Sundays.
She is also set to star in GMA Public Affairs’ mystery-primetime series Love You Stranger alongside boyfriend Khalil Ramos.
