John Lapus reminds LGBTQIA+ Community of Manny Pacquiao’s ‘Masahol Pa sa Hayop’ Statement

In 2016, the eight-division world champion received backlash from the LGBTQIA+ community with his remark about same-sex marriage during his term as a Congressman for Saranggani, saying that they are “masahol pa sa hayop” (worse than animals).

On September 21, actor-comedian-director John ‘Sweet’ Lapus reminds LGBTQIA+ Community of Manny Pacquiao’s ‘Masahol Pa sa Hayop’ statement from 2016; in response to the Senator’s announcement of his Presidential bid.

On his twitter account, Lapus wrote to the LGBTQIA+ community of the Philippines not to forget Pacquaio’s words.

As a response, netizens reacted to his post.

Most of them expressed their disapproval toward the Senator’s run for the Presidency.

Others have urged fellow voters to vote wisely in the 2022 elections.

Senator Manny Pacquiao recently announced retirement from boxing and his plans of running for President in the 2022 national elections after being defeated by his match with Yodenis Ugas in August this year.

In 2016, the eight-division world champion received backlash from the LGBTQIA+ community with his remark about same-sex marriage during his term as a Congressman for Saranggani, saying that they are “masahol pa sa hayop” (worse than animals).

It even infuriated some of the prominent and iconic members of the LGBTQIA+ Community, such as Boy Abunda.

However, with his bid for the Presidency, Pacquaio suddenly changed his stance about the LGTBQIA+ Community, noting that he had relatives and people he knew who were part of the said community.
