The longest-running reality show, Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) will be back for a new season, and this time it is adding a twist, as the management, on August 30, revealed they will have the celebrity edition first, which would include personalities, social media stars, and celebrities.
During the ABS-CBN Dream TWOgether media conference, Marcus Vinuya, the show’s creative head said that influencers can be considered celebrities, too.
“Yes, we can consider them as celebrities kasi nga diba celebrities. Kasi nga diba ngayon kasi lumawak na eh yung ibig sabhin ng celebrities. Not just about the mainstream medias.”
However, these social media stars will still be evaluated and chosen by the management of the show.
“It will still be up to management to ano final cast who will become the celebrity housemates of this season,” Vinuya noted.
Celebrity housemates will be the first to enter the Big Brother House this time.
“We revealed already na for this season, it will be 3 KUMUnities of housemates living in the Big Brother House, one after the other.
“Kasi nga no’ng last PBB: Connect, parang halu-halo, may teens, may adults. This is also a longer season than that. We wanted to give viewers something new,” he added.
PBB had its first batch of celebrities to enter the Big Brother House back in 2016, during its seventh season.
“Matagal na din kasi na wala tayong celebrity housemates na group. Parang the last time was lucky season 7 pa. So ngayon parang it’s something new.
“Sila yung magsisimula ng season followed by the adults, then followed by the teens.”
Meanwhile, the show’s hosts are Robi Domingo, Toni Gonzaga, and Bianca Gonzalez also shared who they think should be part of the celebrity housemates.
Domingo suggested that Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz along with her coach and boyfriend, Julius Naranjo, should be part of the group.
“Hidilyn and her coach, Julius,” he suggested.
For the celebrities, Gonzaga said she wants to have powerhouse couple Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla enter the Big Brother House.
“Ako nalang siguro Kathniel.”
Gonzalez, on the other hand, would like politicians Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso and Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto to join the group.
“May showbiz na and may sports. Ako Yorme and Mayor Vico.”
Aspiring adult housemates, age 20 to 40, may send their auditions beginning on September 1 to 30.
For the teen edition ages of 15 to 19, the screening will begin December 1 to 31.
All auditions will be done through the Kumu app which ABS-CBN collaborated for PBB’s 10th season.
