DonBelle’s sweetness both on-cam and off-cam made actor-director John “Sweet” Lapus on Thursday, December 2 believe that the tandem could be the next KathNiel.
“May movement, you know, I have seen in many loveteams and actually DonBelle reminds me so much of KathNiel. Kasama rin ako sa kanilang first movie together. Iba yung magic eh. Individually, I like them both,” he pointed during the virtual media conference for DonBelle’s upcoming movie, Love is Color Blind.
Lapus found similarities between Pangilinan and Padilla, who were both from a showbiz royalty. He said that both actors are well-groomed to be artists.
“Si Donny feeling ko just like Daniel lahat yata ng mga artista na ang mga parents ay artista rin talagang bini-breed sila ng mga parent or parents nila na artista.
“Kasi talagang napakabait na bata, simpatiko, unang bumabati sa mga senior actors. Alam mong na-train mabuti nang mga magulang na artista din, ganyang-ganyan si Daniel eh.”
The actor-director also revealed how Mariano reminds him so much of Bernardo.
“Si Belle naman, reminds me so much of Kathryn. Yung sweetness at aside from the fact na parehas silang child actors galing din pala sa Goin’ Bulilit.”
Lapus expressed his admiration to child actors such as Mariano who instead of living a normal child’s life, have chosen to work. He believed that the female star could go places just like Bernardo.
“Napakahusay niya. She’ll go places. Hindi ako magtataka na magkakaroon siya ng Best Actress award in the future,” says Lapus.
He also believed DonBelle’s sweetness was genuine, even comparing them to other loveteams in the industry.
“Hindi madadaya kasi off camera eh and observant ako sa mga ganiyan.”
Lapus was also manifesting the success of DonBelle, as he dubbed them the “pandemic love team,” claiming that they will be successful for years to come.
“I’m pretty sure they will have more movies together na when they grow old, pa-mature nang pa-mature ang roles nila. Feeling ko ‘yon ang mangyayari sa loveteam na ito,” Lapus concluded.
Meanwhile, DonBelle gave their reaction to them being compared to KathNiel; they are humbled by such comparison but stressed they want to focus on their own journey as a love team.
“I think for us, we’re just very flattered but also we’re focused eh. We’re focused on just getting our own path, our own journey and learning every day, learning with each other, supporting each other, and just making sure that we keep our feet on the ground and we never stop learning and that we give the glory to God every time,” Pangilinan noted.
Love is Color Blind also includes Jeremiah Lisbo, Angelina Cruz, Ariel Rivera, Eula Valdez, and TikTok sensation Esnyr Ranollo.
Directed by John Leo D. Garcia, the movie is set to premiere on December 10 and will be available on iWantTFC, KTX.ph, Smart GigaPlay, Cignal PPV, Sky Cable PPV, and TFC IPTV.
