Master storyteller and screenwriter Ricky Lee has a new book entitled Servando Magdamag at Iba pang Maiikling Kuwento released by UST Publishing House.
The collection of fiction written in Filipino includes Lee’s own notes behind each story and an introduction by film professor and film critic Rolando B. Tolentino. These additional features are aimed to help the reader reach a deeper understanding. The book, while envisioned to be an entertaining treat for the Ricky Lee fans, is also a volume of modern Filipino literature for scholars and students.
Celebrities such as MMFF 2021 Best Supporting Actor John Arcilla, MMFF 2021 Best Actor Christian Bables, Joem Bascon, Lav Diaz, Ketchup Eusebio, Agot Isidro, Sandino Martin, Alden Richards and John Lapus read excerpts from the book at the virtual book launch that coincided with the unveiling of the Mannix Abrera’s graphic novel adaptation of Lee’s tale about a manananggal entitled, Si Amapola.
