Romnick Sarmenta responds to a netizen who questioned his political stand

Seasoned actor Romnick Sarmenta politely responded to a netizen questioning his political stand.

The former matinee idol answered back a netizen’s insinuations about his political choices in a Facebook post.

The netizen accused Romnick of being an enabler of corrupt politics since 1986. The netizen even accused Sarmenta and other “pinklawan” artists to have benefitted financially from the past administrations.

Posting the screenshot of the netizen’s comment, Romnick explained the issues thrown at him one by one.

Sarmenta said that he never went to EDSA in 1986 but admitted to having prayed at home for the people in EDSA because he believed that EDSA is for the people and not for any politician.

“Una, hindi ako tumapak sa Edsa. Sa bahay ako nagdasal. Sa paniniwalang para sa tao ang Edsa. Hindi sa sinumang pulitiko.”

Romnick also belied the netizen’s accusation about being paid or benefitting from corrupt politicians. He maintained that he only accepts payment for his services as an actor and not for his dignity.
In the end, Romnick said he’s sure of his support for the candidacy of VP Leni and Sen. Kiko, and he does not intend to impose his choice on others.
“Pangatlo, hindi yun kasali sa pagsasalita ko. At lalong wala akong balak na mang impluwensya. Hindi impluwensya ang susi sa pang unawa. Katotohanan lamang ang maaaring magpalinaw ng utak.”
“Opo.
Romnick was one of the first artists to openly support the candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan.
