Why big celebrities like Vice Ganda and Regine Velasquez stand for the VP Leni Robredo?

Election season is a heyday period for many celebrities. Previous election campaigns entail huge investments for celebrities to bring in the needed votes to win.

According to an FB post by Monark Larion Teves, celebrities used to be paid hefty sums of money to endorse a politician.

In the past, Sarah G was said to have been paid 20M to endorse former Senator Manny Villar during the 2010 elections.

Soap Opera Queen Judy Ann Santos is said to have received millions also to campaign for former Senator Jamby Madrigal.

“Election season USED to mean bank season for CELEBRITIES, composers, performers, etc.”

However, it is not the case for the campaign of the Leni-Kiko tandem as several A-list celebrities have come out to support the presidential and vice-presidential candidates for free.

Yes, you read it right, FREE!

Regine Velazquez, Vice Ganda, Ogie Alcasid, Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla all came out to support the candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan for free.

Vice and Regine had to take more time before coming out because of their endorsement contracts which prohibits them from engaging in political campaigns.

The two officially joined the campaign during VP Leni’s birthday rally on Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay on April 23.

According to some insiders they have to pay big amounts of their contracts for them to endorse VP Leni and Sen. Kiko.

The same case with Kathryn and Daniel who also officially came out for the Leni-Kiko tandem during the #PasayIsPink rally.

KathNiel also had to take time before they finally came out for the Robredo-Pangilinan campaigns due to contractual obligations. Kathryn having numerous endorsements–was also said to have paid all contractual bonds just to lend her voice to the Leni-Kiko campaign.

So the question is why are these big stars volunteering and campaigning for Leni Robredo for free?

For Teves, it is simply because these big stars see hope in Vice President Robredo. They see in her the public servant that the country has been longing for.

And no amount of endorsement fee can match the hope that VP Leni symbolizes.

“Because LENI ROBREDO symbolizes HOPE. She embodies everything that we Filipinos have been longing for in a public servant. LENI ROBREDO brings out the best in us She inspires us to be better citizens.”

Apart from A-listers several Pinoy celebrities have also come out to support the Leni-Kiko tandem for Free.

Ogie Diaz and Mama Loi joined the campaign from the very start for free. Jolina Magdangal and Rivermaya were constant figures also in the campaign and they are doing it also for free.

And many other celebrities threw their full support for the campaign of the Leni-Kiko tandem doing house to house campaigns like Marjorie Barretto, Jake Ejercito, Pokwang, Agot Isidro, and many more. And they all do it voluntarily and for free.
