On June 2, TV host Kim Atienza didn’t back down from lecturing the international wrestling star John Cena about Taiwan being a country.
He first commented on the wrestling star’s Facebook post, noting that Taiwan is a country.
Atienza reiterated his Facebook comment on Twitter, maintaining that Taiwan is a country through #TaiwanIsACountry.

Earlier, Atienza also commented on the teaser of Top Gun: Maverick in 2019, wherein he called out the removal of Taiwan’s flag from Tom Cruise’s bomber jacket.

He then praised Top Gun: Maverick because of reports revealing that the Taiwan flag has made a comeback in the actual showing of the movie, expressing his excitement to see the action film with his half-Taiwanese kids.

Taiwan, officially the Republic of China (ROC), is a country in East Asia, at the junction of the East and South China Seas in the northwestern Pacific Ocean.
The country’s area occupies 36,197 square kilometers, and they have had a population of 23.5 million since June 2021.
Their government runs through Multiparty Democracy, and their current president is Tsai Ing-wen. Their capital city is Taipei, and their national flower is the Plum blossom.
Taiwan’s national currency is the New Taiwan Dollar, and they have Mandarin (Chinese), Holo (Taiwanese), Hakka, and Austronesian languages.
According to worldpopulationreview.com, the United Nations recognized Taiwan as a country from 1949 to 1971. However, Taiwan is currently not in the UN and has a classification of ‘territory’ because of a political situation with China.
