The record-breaking episode came on the heels of Friday’s episode and gave the six-year-old series its highest TV rating since the ABS-CBN shutdown.
A new record is set by the longest-running Kapamilya series, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, on Kapamilya Online Live, on Monday, July 11.
As the events escalated between Cardo Dalisay (Coco Martin) and Armando Silang (John Estrada), whose evil intent was finally exposed–the viewers got glued to the show’s Ipaglaban episode.
On Kapamilya Online Live on YouTube, live viewers who concurrently watched the series’ official stream peaked at 350,000+. It effectively erased the record set by Lito Valmoria’s (Richard Gutierrez) death on June 16, 2022, which saw the show’s concurrent viewers breaching 320,000 for the first time since it went online via Kapamilya Online Live. On Facebook, more than 20,000 concurrently watched the show’s live stream, making the total concurrent viewers of the show surge past 370,000.
Ipaglaban episode featured the deadly encounter between Cardo Dalisay and Armando’s team and the death of Jaime Fabregas’s character, General Delfin Borja. Fabregas was one of the longest-staying mainstays of the show, having been part of the series since its debut on September 28, 2015.
Also shown during the episode is the death of Joseph Marco’s character, Lucas Catapang. Marco joined the show in last year’s quarter, along with Julia Montes, John Estrada, and Rosanna Roces. The episode also saw President Oscar Hidalgo (Rowell Santiago) leading Task Force Aguila’s charge against Armando. The group intends to save Cardo Dalisay.
The show, is expected to pick up more heat in the coming episodes, as Cardo and Armando are yet to duel in what could probably be a deadly fight.
Sharon Cuneta’s character, Aurora, is also anticipated to finally exact her revenge against Lolita (Roces), whom she believes is responsible for the death of her daughter, Mara (Julia Montes).
Montes’ exit from the FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, however, is not yet confirmed, as the show is yet to release a press release.
