Real-life celebrity couple Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla opened up on the hardships they faced in their 11-year relationship.
At their thanksgiving dinner for KathNiel fans on September 27, they revealed how they made their relationship strong for a long time.
“Basta kami naman ni Deej [Daniel Padilla], parati na iba ang trabaho, iba ang kathniel, iba rin as Kath and Deej kami na boyfriend and girlfriend ‘yun ang tina-try namin,” said Bernardo.
The actress then explained that she and Padilla try to live a ‘normal’ life outside of being actors.
“For how many years na artista kami yes, pero mag-boyfriend and girlfriend kami na parang normal na tao, so nagpa-palan kami ng trips, dinner, so kailangan may sense ng normalcy pa rin talaga.
“Hindi ‘yung basta artista lang kami. And I think nakakatulong ‘yun sa amin. So kung may time kami na gumawa ng mga bagay na hindi trabaho. Gagawin namin ‘yun together and may time rin siya alone and may time rin ako alone also,” she said.
Padilla then explained that their relationship was full of ups and downs, but they held on with the support of their fans.
“11 years is not a joke.
“Doing this together, kaming dalawa, doing the same movies, ‘di ba? All the romances, hindi madaling trabaho ‘yun. Well, that’s why, lubos ang pasasalamat namin sa mga fans. Kasi may tendency na manawa ka eh, ‘di ba? But still andito tayo ngayon, nag-interview tayo nagbabatian tayo ng happy anniversary and happy 11 years,” he said.
“Sa part namin ni Kathryn, hindi rin naging madali sa amin kasi hindi nga kami magkasamasa sa trabaho, sa totoong buhay, magkasama kami every day and tapos nag-ta-trabaho kami you know kasi doon lumalabas ‘yung craft na ginagawa namin, kasi ‘yung mga napapanood niyo ako at si Kathryn but at the same time we are playing characters so, you know this is not a joke and we are very thankful na nandito pa rin kami hanggang ngayon,” he continued.
The KathNiel loveteam first appeared on TV in 2011 via the ABS-CBN series Growing Up. The real-life couple first confirmed their relationship in 2018.
They then starred in several films together, such as: She’s Dating the Gangster (2014), Crazy Beautiful You (2015), Barcelona: A Love Untold (2016), and The Hows of Us (2018).
They currently star in the Kapamilya series, 2 Good 2 Be True. It airs via Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, and TV5.
