Cristy Fermin asked where Toni Gonzaga’s millions of followers are, wondering why they did not support the star’s official entry to the 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), My Teacher.
On December 27, Fermin shared her observations regarding the movie’s low ticket sales.
“Kamusta naman si Toni Gonzaga? Hinahanap ngayon ng mga kababayan natin ang kanyang milyun-milyong subscribers at followers sa YouTube. Bakit daw walang nangyari? Bakit hindi nag-translate sa takilya?” Fermin inquired.
Fermin said that perhaps her supporters are still busy over the holiday season and will support her movie when they have time.
Directed by Paul Soriano and produced by TEN17P and APT Entertainment, My Teacher is a family drama movie featuring Gonzaga, Joey de Leon, Ronnie Alonte, and Loisa Andalio.
Based on the latest partial, unofficial box office ranking, Vice Ganda and Ivana Alawi’s Partners in Crime and Nadine Lustre’s Deleter topped the list of MMFF 2022’s top grossers.
Netizens have reacted to the low ticket sales of My Teacher.
“Metro Filmfest entry MY TEACHER pulls out from some MM Theater and replaced by Partners in Crime. Yan ba ang Most Powerful Celebrity according to husband Paul Soriano, not even Pulangaws/Pulangots could uplift the box office receipts. Revenge is Sweet!” saudiboy2 posted.

“Yung movie nga 300 pesos lang bayad nilangaw pa tapos concert libo-libo bayad aasa pa? Dapat title nyan hind ‘I AM TONI’ dapat ‘I AM DELUSIONAL’,” SaltAndReality captioned.

“So apparently, the movie of the “most powerful celebrity” is being pulled out of theaters barely two days after it premiered due to poor ticket sales—to none at all—and is being replaced with VG’s movie. I say DASUUURV!” krizzy_kalerqui posted.
