GMA Network’s flagship AM and FM radio stations, Super Radyo DZBB 594 and Barangay LS 97.1 Forever!, began 2023 on an impressive high by taking a stronghold of Mega Manila based on the January 2023 Nielsen Radio Audience Measurement data.
Fresh from its full-year win in 2022, Super Radyo DZBB 594 remained the listeners’ preferred station in Mega Manila. DZBB recorded a 31.4 percent total audience share, while its closest rival, DZRH, only got 26.6 percent.
The morning block remained as the station’s highest-rating daypart, driven by listenership from the 6:00 to 9:00 am segment. This included “Melo Del Prado sa Super Radyo,” “Super Balita sa Umaga Nationwide” (weekdays), and “Dobol Weng sa Dobol B” (Saturdays).
Super Radyo DZBB also began the radio broadcast of the hit multiplatform talk show “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” weekdays from 5:10 to 5:30 pm.
On FM, Barangay LS 97.1 Forever! maintained its leadership in Mega Manila for the said period with a 43.0 percent total audience share, way ahead of its closest competitor, 90.7 Love Radio, which only posted 15.4 percent audience share.
“Barangay Love Stories” was still the undisputed number 1 FM radio program in Mega Manila in January. Its podcast version likewise continues to be among the top podcasts in the Philippines both on Spotify and iTunes.
Further driving ratings for Barangay LS 97.1 Forever! are well-loved programs “Talk to Papa,” “Forever Request,” and “Song Book.”
On top of the winning numbers, GMA Network’s AM and FM radio station have been reaping recognitions from various award-giving bodies.
Super Radyo DZBB 594 was once again chosen as AM Radio Station of the Year at the 2023 Platinum Stallion National Media Awards, with Mike Enriquez being named as AM Broadcast Journalist of the Year.
At the 5th Gawad Lasallianeta Awards, Papa Dudut was again named as Most Outstanding Male FM DJ. The 7th GEMS Awards also recognized “Talk to Papa” as Best Radio Program with host Papa Marky earning the Best Radio Broadcaster (Entertainment/Human Interest) award.
Last year during the 44th Catholic Mass Media Awards, DZBB’s “Super Balita sa Umaga Nationwide” was honored as Best News Program. Arnold Clavio and Connie Sison’s “One on One, Walang Personalan” was named Best News Commentary, while earning the Best Public Service Program award was “Serbisyo on the Spot.” Taking home the Best Entertainment Program, on the other hand, was “Barangay Love Stories.”
