Jake Zyrus is irritated when people compare him to his former self Charice Pempengco.
On April 13, PEP posted an article saying Zyrus has expressed his sentiments during an online gaming session.
“Anong gusto ninyong mangyari? Bubuhayin si Charice? Paano? Scientifically, wala, e. It’s impossible because I’m already taking, like, hormones because that’s who I am.
“So, anong, like, the f*ck*ng stupid question… Questions na, ‘Oh, can you bring back your voice?’ That’s not possible! So, some of you just shut up and listen to your Charice’s songs in your own f*ck*ng time!”
Zyrus said that it is disrespectful when he is compared to his former self and other great singers. He reiterated that Pempengco is gone for a long time already.
“And to actually compare the old me to some of the greatest singers out there, hindi lang disrespectful sa akin yon! Disrespectful din sa kanila yon!
“You’re literally comparing these singers to the person that doesn’t even exist anymore! Do you guys even think about that?”
On March 28, talent manager Diaz called out Pempengco’s mother after the latter said that her daughter was a legend in the country.
Pempengco seemed to be hitting Morissette Amon’s guesting during David Foster’s concert.
“Walang problema kung ipagtatanggol mo ang anak mo kasi anak mo ‘yan. Walang problema kung idedepensa mo siya at kung feeling mo si Charice lang o si Jake Zyrus lang ang makakapagbigay ng justice sa song [ni David Foster]. Ang problema. may sinasagasaan kang tao.
‘Yun ang hindi maganda. Kaya sana baguhin mo ang ganyang pag-uugali ha, Mommy Raquel,” Diaz said.
In 2021, Zyrus admitted that he still watches old videos of Pempengco.
