Aside from winning their respective time slots in the live concurrent viewership game, the three primetime programs have also been posting impressive TV ratings, according to Kantar Media.
ABS-CBN continues to make strides in the rating game, albeit, its continuing limited free TV presence. On primetime, the improvement in the media company’s viewership has so far been spectacular, with some programs even pulling off wins against their rival Kapuso shows.
Leading the Kapamilya pack is the so-called new ‘Pambansang Teleserye’ (national TV series), FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, starred by the Primetime and Teleserye King, Coco Martin. Martin is also the star of the longest-running local TV series, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, which reigned in the ratings game, for nearly 7 years.
With FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, Martin further cemented his stature as the most bankable and most popular male star of Philippine showbiz. That claim is supported by the series’ almost uninterrupted winning streak in the ratings provided by Nielsen Philippines. The action drama series’ victory, however, is even more evident, based on the ratings provided by Kantar Media Philippines.
Last May 8, the Coco Martin-starrer posted a 19.1% rating, higher than the 18% generated by the highly-hyped Kapuso series, Voltes V Legacy. The live-action TV adaptation premiered yesterday, hence the massive anticipation for it. However, it seems the promotion pulled off by GMA Network fell short, as the series was unable to defeat the currently number 1 TV drama in the land.
Similarly, The Iron Heart, which airs just after FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, also registered a really impressive Total Philippines rating. On the same day, the Richard Gutierrez-starrer posted a 12.2% rating, which is just 0.7% behind GMA Network’s Hearts On Ice. Take note, however, that the Kapuso sports drama, has delayed telecast to push its aggregated ratings higher.
Suspense drama, Dirty Linen, comfortably enjoyed a win, against the GMA Public Affairs series, The Write One. According to Kantar Media, the Janine Gutierrez-top-billed drama scored a 6.7% Total Philippines rating, which is higher than its rival’s 6.5%. The series is reportedly airing its last episode in June.
