Vice Ganda spontaneously segued an impromptu skit into giving a humorous commentary about the Tawag Ng Tanghalan judges, on the September 12 episode of the noontime show, It’s Showtime.

It is no secret that Vice Ganda is one of those comedians who do not need a script to throw a joke that can send an entire room into laughing. His incomparable comedic skill has been in full display since he began taking on the lead hosting job on It’s Showtime. Yesterday, he once again showcased that deftness in generating chuckles and laughter, when an aspiring newscaster joined Tawag Ng Tanghalan. A conversation with the said TNT contender inadvertently prompted Vice to pull off an impromptu skit, where he pretended as a news reporter.
At first, the Kapamilya comedian poked fun at his Tawag Ng Tanghalan co-hosts, lightly making fun of Vhong Navarro’s ultra-white complexion, Ryan Bang’s being a well-loved Korean in the Philippines, Amy Perez’s statute as one of the noontime icons in the country, and Jhong Hilario’s humble journey from being a dancer to an award-winning actor and a politician.

However, it was when he shifted to the competition’s panel of judges, that he generated the most laughs.
As singing competitions became a regular feature on local television, may they be a local franchise of an international format or a segment of a noontime variety show like It’s Showtime, viewers have somewhat got used to how judges assess the performances.
“Naririto sa aking likuran ang mga tinatawag na bantog na mga hurado, at pinakamahuhusay na mang-aawit sa Pilipinas,” Vice said as he walked towards the panel of judges, which included Louie Ocampo, Ogie Alcasid, Jed Madela, Bituin Escalante, and Kyla. He then enumerated his observations about what a TNT hurado usually note about a contender’s performance.
“Lahat sila magsasabing ‘may narinig akong flat, may narinig akong sharp, parang kulang ang damdamin, parang kulang ang pagkukwento’. Marami silang sinasabi, pero ang lahat ng ‘yan, magtatapos sa, ‘overall, I still love your performance’, ” he added, sending the entire studio bursting into laughter.
Vice Ganda is known for using his influence and platform in giving commentaries to social issues and even not-so serious matters, such as how singing contest judges give predictable judgment to contestants. That said, more than anything, it is Vice Ganda’s comic spontaneity and ability to turn impromptu sketches into big comedic moments, that really makes remarkable.
