The Pinoy pop (P-pop) landscape welcomes a fresh addition as Star Pop, the record label under ABS-CBN, introduces the newly formed boy band, 1621BC.
Comprising members Pan, Win, Migz, DJ, JM, and JC, this group is a product of the reality competition ‘Dream Maker,’ representing the network’s commitment to cultivating emerging talent in the music industry.
Despite the challenges faced in bringing the band together, the members firmly believe that the wait has been worthwhile. Their name, 1621BC, carries symbolic significance, with ‘1621’ referring to the angel number manifestation associated with the realization of desires and goals. Meanwhile, ‘BC’ stands for Beyond Complete, underscoring the group’s pursuit of excellence.
In a statement, the band expressed its singular goal as a newcomer in the P-pop scene: “We aim to introduce songs and music that will evoke various emotions—making everyone cry, smile, celebrate, dance, and sing, reminiscent of the vibrant P-pop tradition.”
The group’s debut single, ‘Laruan,’ takes on the theme of relationship toxicity, exploring the need to protect oneself from heartbreaks. Composed and produced by ALAS, the track reflects the band’s commitment to delivering meaningful and relatable content to its audience.
As 1621BC embarks on its journey as a P-pop boy band, the members admitted to experiencing a mix of excitement and nervousness. They acknowledged the collective effort and hard work invested in their group and music, expressing a desire to make their supporters and collaborators proud.
When asked about their strategy to stand out in the saturated P-pop genre, the band emphasized a focus on musicality, showcasing their vocal prowess. Additionally, they plan to incorporate a fusion of Eastern and Western influences, aiming to resonate with a broad audience.
With their debut single ‘Laruan’ now available on various streaming platforms, 1621BC is poised to make a distinctive mark in the P-pop scene.
