On January 10, actress Boots Anson-Roa commemorated Ronaldo Valdez’s contribution to the showbiz industry.
At the media event for the upcoming movie ‘Good Game (GG) The Movie,’ which LionhearTV covered, Anson-Roa urged fans and Filipino audiences to celebrate the meaningful life of the late actor.
“Kung wala po itong jigsaw puzzle part na ‘to, hindi po ito mako-kumpleto, itong pelikula. We are referring to the late Ronaldo Valdez. This is not the time to mourn his death, but the time, I think, for us to enjoy, all of you, to celebrate the illustrious and meaningful life [that] he led as an actor.”
She also highlighted Valdez’s contribution to the entertainment industry and his filmography.
“And as a member of the industry–and remember him with fondest thoughts and a lot of respect for his filmography and his great contribution to the industry– by way of his work.
“So, our loss is Heaven’s gain, pero if I know Ronaldo, mahilig pong mang-kengkoy ‘yun sa pelikula eh. Lahat tayo na-experience ‘yan eh. Baka nandidito lang ‘yan sa palipaligid, baka mamaya gulatin niya tayo.”
She then fondly remembered her previous pairings with Valdez, jokingly noting that they were the ‘KathNiel’ of their time.
“Maybe we could say a quiet and short prayer in the recesses of our hearts.
“Lover sa maraming pelikula. 1970 pa po, gumagawa na kami ng pelikula ni Ronaldo. Kami ‘yung mga KathNiel noong araw. Parang this way pero iba po ‘yung mga love teams noong araw.”
Valdez passed away on December 17, 2023, at the age of 76.
As for their film, ‘Good Game (GG) The Movie’ stars Donny Pangilinan, Maricel Laxa, Baron Geisler, Ronaldo Valdez, Johannes Isler, Iggy Boy Flores, Gold Aceron, Kaleb Ong, Anthony Pangilinan, and Boots Anson-Roa.
Under the direction of Prime Cruz, ‘Good Game (GG) The Movie’ opens in cinemas January 24.
