Actor Dingdong Dantes is poised to grace the silver screen once more, this time alongside former ABS-CBN president Charo Santos, in an upcoming film titled ‘Love After Love.’
The project, set to commence filming in April, marks Dantes’ next cinematic venture following the success of his blockbuster hit ‘Rewind.’
Dantes shared insights into the highly anticipated film during the 50th-anniversary press conference of Mowelfund, shedding light on its development process.
“The script, sumailalim sa maraming revisions. I think sakto lang ‘yung panahon ngayon at magagawa na namin siya,” he remarked.
Reflecting on the project’s inception, Dantes revealed that the concept for ‘Love After Love’ was conceived before the onset of the pandemic-induced lockdown.
“Mula nang umpisa naman, nung na-conceptualize ‘yung project, ‘yun na talaga. Kami na talaga ‘yung team. Walang ibang casting. It was really written with us in mind. Medyo na-stall lang ng konti ‘coz the script had to go thrpugh revisions, konting pagbabago, ready’ng ready na siya,” he explained.
While the working title suggests themes of romance and drama, Dantes opted not to confine the film to a specific genre, emphasizing its multifaceted nature. “Hard to say kasi yun din ang intention ng pelikula eh. Hindi magbigay ng isang genre. So, abangan niyo na lang,” he remarked.
Addressing speculation about the film’s potential submission to the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), Dantes clarified that ‘Love After Love’ was not originally intended for the festival circuit. “Kahit nung ginawa namin siya dati, hindi naman siya talaga intended for film fest. But of course, lahat ng mga bagay hindi natin… wala sa ating mga kamay ‘yan. Ang mahalaga is makagawa tayo ng mga creative and compelling stories,” he emphasized.
Penned and helmed by acclaimed writer-director Irene Villamor, ‘Love After Love’ promises to deliver another captivating cinematic experience, featuring the dynamic duo of Dingdong Dantes and Charo Santos. With filming set to commence in April, anticipation is high for this upcoming collaboration between two of the industry’s most esteemed talents.
