Singer Anji Salvacion accepted on March 13 that bashing comes with being a celebrity, choosing to ignore her critics as much as possible.
In an interview during the Star Magic ‘Spotlight’ press conference, Salvacion recalled the time she experienced the worst comment she had ever received.
It came from an individual who considered the number of followers on the video-sharing platform TikTok as the measure of popularity.

“Pinaka-worse siguro sa basher ko in personal is, may kasama ako tapos may nagpa-picture sa akin na mag-ina. May biglang isang tao na nagsabing—may kasama siyang tiktoker or something—I don’t know the person kasi hindi naman ako masiyadong nagti-tiktok.
“’Bakit diyan ka nagpapa-picture? May mas sikat dito o? Ganito lang naman ang followers niya sa TikTok.’ That was so weird to just blurt out,” she recalled.
The singer remembered walking away, after realizing it was not worth her time or feelings.
Salvacion has been ridiculed countless times, most notably in her performance as Kate Alcantara in the ABS-CBN drama show ‘Linlang.’ To avoid being affected, she chose not to read the hurtful comments on social media.
“Unang-una sa lahat, hindi ko nababasa kasi hindi ako pinapabasa. Ayoko ding mabasa kasi ayoko ding ma-stress ng malala.”
She then highlighted the importance of managing one’s reaction to online criticism.
“Kasi ‘di ba nga, sabi nila, ‘You don’t handle them but handle how you react,’ and that’s what I did.”
As a public figure, the singer accepted that she can do nothing to change the opinions of those who dislike her.
“Kasi no matter if I do my best for you guys, and for everyone else, but if they really do hate me, they will always see something worse about me. So doon ko na-realize na I can’t please everyone.”
Her message to bashers: “God bless you, hahaha!”
“Kasi you know, they keep on bashing and I can’t do anything about it,” Salvacion explained. “You felt blessed pa rin and I hope you can sleep well.”
