GMA Network’s Senior Vice President for Programming, Talent Management, Worldwide, and Support Group, and President and CEO of GMA Pictures, Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, has extended a prestigious invitation to the entire cast of ‘It’s Showtime’ for the highly anticipated GMA Gala 2024.
This invitation comes amid a celebratory atmosphere as ‘It’s Showtime’ continues to enjoy soaring ratings.
The invitation was highlighted in a social media post by Sparkle GMA Artist Center, featuring a clip from a recent episode of the noontime variety show where host Vice Ganda addressed the Kapuso executive.
“We sent an invite to the entire cast of [It’s] Showtime. So let’s see kung darating silang lahat and nakausap ko ‘yung iba sa kanila and they’re very excited already. They’re preparing what to wear. I think it’s the first time that they will attend the gala as GMA kasi last year they attended, but they were with GTV,” Atty. Gozon-Valdes shared.
She added, “Ngayon parang mas may celebratory feeling na, especially since [It’s] Showtime’s ratings are soaring so high.”
The invitation followed an incident during the June 8 episode of ‘It’s Showtime,’ where Vice Ganda mistakenly mentioned another news program instead of GMA Network’s ’24 Oras’ during the ‘Expecially For You’ segment. This segment featured Kapuso actress-singer Rita Daniela as a guest searcher. Praising Daniela’s talent, Vice Ganda said, “Ang ganda ng boses nito. Bakit hindi ka mag-TV Patrol? Pero ikaw ‘yung nagre-report.” His co-host, Jhong Hilario, added, “Pwede sa Star Patrol.”
Realizing the error, Vice Ganda quickly corrected himself, asking Jhong why they hadn’t mentioned GMA Network’s ’24 Oras’. He then addressed Atty. Gozon-Valdes directly, saying, “Ma’am Annette, I’m sorry!” and joked, “Baka mabawi ‘yung imbitasyon natin sa GMA Gala. Masasayang ‘yung gown na pinagawa ko.”
The invitation to the GMA Gala 2024 signifies a strengthening relationship between the networks and highlights the continued success of ‘It’s Showtime’ on its new platform.
