BINI member Maloi Ricalde has issued a public apology following controversy over a video she reposted that was deemed offensive to people with disabilities (PWD).

The video, which Ricalde shared on TikTok, featured a man dancing in a manner that many perceived as mocking or imitating individuals with disabilities.

Ricalde’s comment on the video, “NAPATAWA MO AKO HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA,” drew significant backlash from netizens who criticized her for laughing at and sharing content that they felt was derogatory towards PWDs. The negative response quickly escalated on social media platforms, with users calling out the insensitivity of her actions.

Laughing at and reposting a video that mocks people with disabilities is NOT and will never be okay. To that Louie guy, Maloi, and EVERYONE who liked, laughed, or reposted this video, please take the time to educate yourselves and learn why this is topic is sensitive. pic.twitter.com/OtsCRTc90u

I will be more careful next time,” she added.

Ricalde also thanked those who provided constructive feedback, saying, “Thank you to those who educated me nicely. I appreciate you all.”
