Actress Jessy Mendiola shocked fans with a candid revelation about her relationship with husband Luis Manzano in a recent vlog posted on her YouTube channel.
During a game of ‘Truth or Dare,’ Jessy opened up about a time when she almost left Luis, marking one of the most difficult moments in their marriage.
The question posed during the game asked, “Describe the time you almost broke up with your spouse,” to which Jessy didn’t hold back. She shared that the situation became so intense, she even said goodbye to Luis’ mother, veteran actress Vilma Santos.
Jessy explained, “Sinabi ko sa kanya, either piliin mo ‘yung pamilya mo o piliin mo yung mga kaibigan mo na hindi okay para sa ‘yo.” Feeling unheard and exhausted, Jessy sought Vilma Santos, affectionately called “Momskie,” to bid farewell. “Sabi ko, ‘Hindi ko na po talaga kaya. Mahal ko po kayo pero hindi na po ako pinapakinggan ng asawa ko.’” Jessy recounted.
Just days after, however, Luis realized the gravity of the situation and began to make changes. “Gradually, nakakalas siya sa mga taong ‘yun,” Jessy revealed, indicating that her ultimatum led to positive changes in their relationship.
Jessy also spoke about the emotional toll during that period, saying, “Talagang ang bigat sa pakiramdam. Yung feeling parang gusto mo na lang talagang iwan, kaso oo nga pala, kasal tayo. Hindi tayo basta-bastang pwedeng maghiwalay.”
She concluded by saying she believes the struggle happened for a reason and that it ultimately strengthened their bond as a couple. Jessy’s revelation has since sparked admiration from fans, praising the couple’s honesty and resilience in overcoming their marital challenges.
The couple, who tied the knot in February 2021, continues to share their relationship journey with their followers, remaining one of the most closely-watched celebrity pairs in the Philippines.
