Reports have emerged linking actress Rufa Mae Quinto and boxing icon Manny Pacquiao to the ongoing legal troubles surrounding Dermacare, the company implicated in syndicated estafa and violations of the Securities Regulation Code (RA 8799).
In his latest ‘Showbiz Update,’ entertainment reporter Ogie Diaz disclosed that sources claimed both Rufa Mae and Manny might have active warrants of arrest. The allegations follow the recent arrest of actress and businesswoman Neri Naig-Miranda, a Dermacare endorser, in Pasay City on November 23.
According to Ogie, Rufa Mae was an endorser of Dermacare, while Manny was reportedly listed as a franchisee and brand ambassador in 2022. “May nagparating uli sa amin, totoo ba ito na maging sina Rufa Mae Quinto at People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao ay may warrant of arrest din?” he asked during his report.
Ogie expressed concern, saying, “Nakakaloka ha, sana hindi ito totoo,” as he urged the camps of Rufa Mae and Manny to clarify the situation.
Ogie highlighted the growing fear among celebrities about endorsing brands, particularly if corporate partners face legal or financial issues. “Nakakatakot na maging endorser or brand ambassador ng isang produkto,” he said. “Pag ang mga kasosyo sa korporasyon ay nalugi, ang hahabulin ay mga endorser. Kawawa naman daw ang mga artista kung ganun.”
The allegations against Rufa Mae and Manny follow Neri Naig-Miranda’s detention. Neri faces 14 counts of Securities Regulation Code violations and syndicated estafa. One of the charges is non-bailable, keeping the actress in custody.
As of now, there has been no official statement from Rufa Mae Quinto or Manny Pacquiao regarding the allegations.
