As one of the most talented actors of his generation, Carlo Aquino always seeks more opportunities to showcase his acting prowess, and his official return to being a Ka-Viva under the management of VAA (Viva Artists Agency), after 14 years, signals a new era for the talented leading man.
His recent Viva Films projects have always been the talk of the town each time it premieres in cinemas and streaming platforms as netizens find his on-screen partnership with actress, and now fellow Viva artist Julia Barretto, beaming with chemistry, specifically in their films Expensive Candy (2022) and Hold Me Close (2024), the latter an entry in last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.
After these successful movies, the time seemed ripe for him to return home as a VAA artist, after all he was under VAA’s management back in 2005 – 2011, when he made some of his most memorable cinematic projects like Baler with Anne Curtis in 2008, as well as Tumbok with Cristine Reyes in 2011.
Even after his contract with VAA ended in 2011, Carlo continued to work with projects under Viva Films and it was with those projects that he became one of the most sought-after leading men with movies like Baler, Tumbok, Meet Me In St. Gallen (2018) with Bela Padilla, and Ulan (2019) with Nadine Lustre.
Carlo’s journey as an actor started out in the sketch comedy show Ang TV and supporting roles in various films and TV series back in the 90s. Carlo rose to fame as one of the most prominent child actors in the country with his heartfelt performance in Bata, Bata … Pa’no Ka Ginawa? (1998) where he starred alongside Vilma Santos. His performance earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Gawad Urian Awards and the award for Best Child Actor in the FAMAS Awards both in 1999.
He further made avenues to show his acting versatility growing up with his roles in the Ang Tanging Ina film trilogy (2003-2010), Heneral Luna (2015), Bar Boys (2017), and Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral (2018), just to name a few.
Now, as a returning ka-Viva, Carlo is ready to show what he does best—a versatile acting prowess that is ready to take every moviegoer into a whirlwind of emotions.
